Simple three steps to consider when starting your internet marketing adventure. When it comes to internet marketing, there are things that you simply need to avoid so that you will not waste your time. Unfortunately, these are very common mistakes and if you are able to avoid these, you will be able to have an edge on your competition. If you are serious about being a successful internet marketer, then you need to focus on these mistakes and to remember to avoid them.
Making your presence known online is all about having a niche. This could be in the form of a website, a web blog, an online eCommerce store, or any other form on online presence.
Having A Good Niche
Don’t Pick Something Just Because You Think Its Fun Or Exciting. There are many other factors to consider when choosing a niche for your online presence and business. If you fail to choose a good niche, you will never be able to really succeed. This is because the internet already has a lot of competition and so you need to find a niche where you can excel and actually get traffic to your site. Do lots of research about trends in the market and what is doing well. Think about the future and how your niche will be able to over-come the changes in society technology, and other changes in life. Are you going to be able to keep up with the Jones’s? Remember, you also need to take into consideration your time and energy and if you find a niche that you will enjoy working with, chances are better for success. Make sure you spend lots of time considering all your options such as: what will you use for content? what will you use to monetize the site to make money? Make you you think long and hard for your ideal niche.

Rushing The Process – Shiny Object Syndrome
Too many people simply try to get overnight success and this is not going to happen unless you have the next viral idea. Viral idea’s are like winning the lottery and are few and far between. Facebook and Twitter are examples. If you are serious about being able to succeed in any aspect of life, rushing things will only make things worse. You need to take it slow and focus on long term success. Once you realize that patience really is a virtue, you will see that your online journey will only get better. Research and research some more. Do your home work because if you are going to put lots of time and energy into your online presence, make sure its going to count. If you do not succeed, at least you can look back and say to yourself that you gave it all you had.
I have started several online adventures so many times and the biggest issue with me is that I had my hand in too many cookie jars. Try to concentrate on ONE idea at a time and do not be mistaken and development Shiny Object Syndrome. You see, the internet is like a HUGE place with tons of shiny objects. People get carried away from these objects and get side tracked very easily. I have been in this position and still am on occasion Think about it like this – if you have 3 or more projects on the go at the same time. How can you give one of these projects 100% when you are thinned out with too many jobs on the go. Concentrate on one job at a time – one idea or niche at a time.
No originality Or Idea
It has been said that most new ideas created on the internet are variations of existing ideas. Most new successful businesses are in some way modified to other ideas and that there is no new idea to think of because every idea or creation has been thought of already. I do not believe this at all and feel that there is always a new idea or solution. The problem is coming up with this idea before someone else does. nevertheless it is much harder to think of a viral idea these days compared to before because the internet has been on-going for several years now and it has grown so much that most ideas definitely have already been thought of. Again, I do believe with the changes in life and the times changing each day, there will be new development on ideas still to come. Hopefully I will being one of these new ideas to the world wide web. 🙂
The internet has a lot of content and so you can’t be a copy of other things. Google and other search engines can detect a copy as soon as it hits the internet. DO NOT COPY anyone’s material or content because this will hurt your niche even before it begins. You will need to be original and have your own style on the internet. Once you are able to do this, there is no stopping you from succeeding.
If you are able to avoid these simple things, you will be able to really make your presence known on the internet. Most people will admit that these are the simplest mistakes to create and if you avoid these from the very beginning, you will be able to be successful on the internet.
