Black Hat vs White Hat SEO – The Game is Still On

Black Hat SEO techniques are still in practice extensively despite several updates to Google’s search algorithm. But, are these techniques worth the risk?

For almost a decade now, SEOs have been grouped into two types and they are called black hats and the white hats but even with that, the difference between the two of them is not readily know. It is not bad to still have an idea of the reason behind the white and black hat name as it might help you make right choices for your business. The word black does not sound decent in most ears when referring to something and this is no different as indulging in black hat SEO involves purposely violating Google’s rules and hurting search quality only to improve your site ranking.

  • Making a choice between high-value or low-value SEO tactics: First of all, value as used in this context explains the quality this tactics provides to search and site visitors. The low-value tactics is known to many as spam and although not illegal or even unethical, it is still done for the purpose of SEO. When a manager uses low-value tactics to draw traffic to his site, he is seen to many as trying to progress with a cheap tactic but even at that, he still succeeds in advertising his business using the medium.
  • You may want to take a risk with low value SEO tactics in the hope of attaining a favorable outcome in a short span of time. It is not advisable to just dive into black hat SEO techniques to get moving quickly as well as cheaply. Many people have done so and failed miserably. It is true that black hat SEO techniques involve taking high risk in order to achieve quick rewards and the opposite applies for white hat SEO. Before you take risk whether high or low, you must be familiar with the implications that would result from such decision and you should be able to know the worst-case scenario and ask yourself if you can actually cope with it. If your answer is yes then you are a go.
  • Thirdly, the amount of time that you are going to put into your SEO efforts is very important. Whether you go for a short-term SEO plan or a long-term plan, it depends on you. Of course, there are advantages and disadvantages whether you go long or short and you must take your time to know these factors before making your decision. If your decision for going short is because you want quick money then don’t be surprised when you get whacked by Google or see yourself fail as a result of bad tactics. Even if you don’t get punished by Google for practicing some low value SEO methods, these methods will not be effective for long, and you have to chase another low value SEO trick to keep up with your hunt for better rankings.

In conclusion, how you run your business is totally your concern but this article is here to ensure you are on the right track when you want to get moving. Remember the game is still on!
